Featured above is a heft of seventeen bold graphic logo marks by various and significant Japanese designers. They represent entries in the Osaka Expo ’70 competition and are sourced from Trade Marks & Symbols, Volume 2: Symbolical Designs, part of a comprehensive hardback set featuring thousands of modern logos. The series is edited by notable Japanese graphic designer Yasaburo Kuwayama, published in 1973.
The marks above appear in the exact order as they do in the book with the winning mark by Takeshi Otaka in the lead. (This logo was previously published in Sandi’s Logo Collection, 1969 post plus my Expo ’70 – Osaka, Japan post here on AQ-V.) And the initial winning mark by Isao Nishijima following.
